hmmm, and for 1 core ?
I only have a GA-5AX from gigabyte atm.
EDIT : also 2 boards s478, one slot one, a s462 and s423. Only 1 Core XD
i guess we cannot use 2 or 4 cores of a 980x for the corresponding categories!? :)

can you use amd cpus?
Gee buy a gigabyte board to win a gigabyte board... If I had a board maybe... Maybe if the prizes were better.....
6core wprime? Do I smell dead Gulftowns?

I can't see the "use a Gigabyte-Mainboard" requirement this time, is it simply a mistake, am I going blind or are you allowed to use any motherboard this time?
I think most sense would be to allow all boards, otherwise the prizes are some kind of stupid. If I won a competion with me state-of-the-art Gigabyte board, I don't need another one. But if I used an Asus board (just for example) and would win a new Gigabyte-Board I could try this next time ^^
Yes, you are blind :)
- Only use motherboard manufacturered by GIGABYTE.

Exactly. This must be specified.

Another compo with entry cost higher than the best prize. <goes back to his Sempron 140 rig>
Does this rules allow to use Hyperthreading in category 4 cores? I think it will be unfair to people who have processors w/o HT.
Hyperthreading is a feature, so of course it's allowed.

The cores are physical or HT can be used?.
EDIT: Thanks, I don't see your post.

I have a GA-5AX too, with two AMD K6/2, is it a "DualCore" ?!
Mass, can I participate only in 4 cores or I have to participate in all stages?
Bye
Prizes are awarded per #cores. So, to win the 4-core prize, you only need to compete in 4-core Wprime 32M and 4-core Wprime 1024M.
Not competing in the other stages is no problem

Honestly I do not stay clear. If I have a I7 875K, this rise in the category of 4 cores (without HT). O in the category of 6 cores with ht.
With a I3 530 or I5 655K compete in 2 cores without ht?
Retail only, means my B1 ES is out...
Might go for the dual core stage though...

Again - hyperthreading is a feature of the CPU.
875K = 4-cores (with HT)
530/655K = 2-cores (with ht)
Wrong result in category Тур 3: 4 core Wprime 32M

Can we use an unlocked X3 as a four core submission? I have tried this but it will not allow it. Can you clarify?
Thanks
so you mean when you unlock the X3 to X4 right? It will show 4 cores and pretty much becomes a 4core processor = yes

I tried to submit that way (X3 740 unlocked to 4 cores) but it rejected the submission.
It should be working if you set the unlocked cores?

Good luck for everyone!

Hi guys.
Massman, a quick question. Why isn't permitted use 2 or 4 cores of a six core, but use an unlock quad core is permitted? I don't want create problems about that, it's just curiosity

I think it was something to do with disabling cores is disabling features on a CPU but getting a triple core for example to work as a quad is using more than its actually sold to do.
The reason why we split up benchmarks based on #CPU_core is that we wanted everyone to have a more fair competition that didn't benefit the highly expensive multi-core CPUs. If we'd allow downclocking, we'd have the same situation where Gulftown would beat all competition due to superior IPC and overclocking capabilities.
In addition, why would we split up a competition and then allow ONE product to be used in SIX categories :). It doesn't make any sense to both split up and then allow Gulftown to compete in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6xCPU category :p

Yeah.
Sorry Massman I read another thread where you explain that. A 980x or 1090T with 2 or 4 cores disables is still a six core. Thanks for the reply anyway.
I will try to do the best that I can with my 1090T and Hyper 212+
One question we can win 2 or 3 category? or only one category for user?
Regards ;)

You can win more than one if you have the highest score in both categories, right?
If you managed to be first in all categories, you deserve all prizes :D
