980Ti on Windows XP

Seems this knowledge got lost between generations, a lot of people have been asking me about the "special 980 Ti XP driver".

It's really as simple as adding the device ID of 980 Ti (17C8h) in nv4_dispi.inf the most current XP driver for say original GTX Titan.

See example inf files here https://copy.com/uHw7us1P7jQZLyuK (353.62)

Latest drivers as of writing 361.75

Exactly.

In the future, for anyone who might be interested, this is the "universal" guide that can be used:

http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=377158

To add upcoming cards, the Device ID can be found on GPUZ. So instead of 17C8 for 980 ti, just grab ID from GPUZ and add it on the nv4_dispi as mentioned above by Elmor.

in that guide it has 2 steps, I see how to add the device ID from the example inf above, but there is a second part for adding support to the OS. Is that step necessary. Can I use this exact line that I found in the example inf and add to the OS section of the inf I am modding?

%NVIDIA_DEV.17C8% = Section008, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_17C8

I always use xp drivers for xp and 7/8/10 drivers for 7 etc.

So you dont need to add support for OS into the driver if I recall correctly. Just use latest (non 980-ti compatible) xp drivers and add the cards into the inf file. ^^

If you have issues I can send you the inf file :)

hey guys, has anyone found a way to make 1080 work on xp or is it not possible. I modded the newest xp64 drivers and the driver installs but windows acts weird and blackscreens a lot. Also 03 installs but says hardware not supported. newest gpuz wont install, only old versions.

guys im running into a strange issue, never had before...

im trying to bench 3dmark01SE on Apex, install worked fine from usb, XP 64bit installed, 361.75 driver for 980Ti installed correctly also after replacing the n4dispi file. but when im starting 01SE it also takes longer than usual (-nosysteminfo not working afaik) and once i hit RUN benchmark it goes not responding on the loading screen, it never starts 3d... does not matter which test im selecting... driver and 01SE resinstall not helps...

on event viewer i found this error message:

a0HEQPR.jpg

any clue?

*mod

Ok it seems it was some vsync issue. after several driver reinstall and enabling back vsync 3d works fine.
