Just a warning for those using Gigabyte's B3 bios on B2 boards:
I successfully updated mine to F3. Every thing was fine until I had the great idea of trying to update the backup bios (expecting that if something went wrong it come back to a B3 bios instead of an B2). After the bios swaping process MY BOARD "DIED" :( It doesn't post, doesn't make any beep, with or without CPU it doesn't start anymore...
I bought some dice for trying good scores for initial K contest and I stopped before using any of it just because of this great idea of messing up the backup bios before benching...
I'm just sad now.... I'm really dumb :( for realz :(
You can solve that problem?
Which BIOS you installed first to the backup BIOS?, I think if install the F3di first, then swap BIOSes and then install F3 into main and Swap again should not be any problem...

Sure, I think that if I've done that it would be ok.
But I tried to swap from F6 (at the backup) to F3 (main) =(
But damn, I can't find no one with that BIOS chip for sale... =( My board is dead and the BIOS sellers that I know doesn't have this chip...
Favorite bios for the P67AUD7B3 board anyone?
Been thru just about all of them and they all suck snarf. Time to switch boards.

Ok, I know that you can SHORT pins 6 and 7 (with a mini screwdriver) on the primary BIOS (the pins across from the pin marked as 1 with the marking) to force the board to boot from the backup BIOS instead.
Try this first and see if it works.
If it doesn't, then try shorting pins 6 and 7 on the backup BIOS.
One of these should make the board boot.
I think the problem is that if you only crossflash ONCE, there are some bugs that C_N found out over on xtremesystems, and a few others found out too; namely, that PLL Overvoltage doesn't work, and the board doesn't seem to save voltages properly (or maybe initialize them) until it is powered off. You have to reflash a second time (a non modded BIOS? Not sure if you need a non modded BIOS or not, but it's safest NOT to flash the modded BIOS a second time) for this to work properly.
If you used a modded BIOS to do the crossflash, and then flashed THAT code to the backup with alt-f12, I could see how this could kill the board.
Also keep in mind that the B2 UD5 has a hardware flaw with LLC that is not bios correctable--it was corrected with the B3 board only.

Is there a new bios for the ASUS P8P67 Rev.B2? This is 1401 but do not know what about 1506?

Thanks for the tip, I'll try it as soon as possible and try to get back to my old and good F7e bios...
I Crossflashed a non modded B3 bios, I think that that was the issue... But if you say that B3 Bios gives unstable voltages on B2 boards there's no use to me at all..
Thanks again!

What BIOS for UD4-B3?:)
i'm using the official F3, but I tried also F2b, my friend Mafio tried F3d: nothing changes between them.
The biggest problem, anyway, is that you can't POST at any bclk above 101MHz, so you need to enter the bios, set for example 52x101 (with 2133MHz ram multiplier of course), save and exit, set 101,5x52, save and exit, then 102x52 etc...etc... until you get in the 106/107 area, suitable to bench.
Remember, never shut down, only reset, because if you try to shut down you can't POST, you'll need to clear cmos and re-start with the loop I described above.
If someone has other solutions to this issue, it'll be welcome, but this is what I found with the last bioses, no matter what of them you use, the problem is still there :)

Wonderful to see how Gigabyte launches Z68 bioses and lets people who paid a lot of money die with their bugged and extremely locked(Ram) P67-Bioses- seems fresh money is worth more than satified customers. Having used GA all my OC-life long the UD4-B3 will most likely be my last GA- I will change
It's not because they have a Z68 BIOS that they will never update the P67 BIOS anymore ...
websmile
04-28-2011, 15:34
For the user that´s no difference- and it will definitely not change my mind in changing manufacturer. That GA has stopped buying P67 chips from Intel and will relauch the whole portfolio at Z68 base doesn´t free them from their "tasks" for their customers imho. As I know there is not much, if not to say nothing more to come my next board will be from a manufacturer with better support. Sadly there are only a few manufacturers left, but luckily Gigabytte is at least atm not the only one. Funny thing is I was more or less the last GA-apologet at AF :D - the only one always talking for them, but we all make mistakes xD
What's the issue exactly? The lack of P67 BIOS? Or the many (unresolved) issues with the boards? Or that Gigabyte now also makes Z68 BIOSes?
If it's the many unresolved issues that is making you angry, it's very understandible that you would change mainboard brand next generation :)

I´m not someone always needing new Bioses- I had my GA-P45 UD3 for example almost two years with same F5 Bios because board worked perfectly, so I never even thought about upgrading Bios. The unresolved issues are the problem, if GA had just emitted one bios version working without bugs and without big ram problems which I won´t discuss here I would have been satisfied. Seems I´m not the only one with bug problems on the board, and you can believe me that I´m not someone making the decision to change brand light hearted :)
Oh, ok, I see.
Too bad you can't get the ram running. Are you using Hyper? I think many boards have issues with memory (except maybe for M4E, which seems okay for most kits). It depends from kit to kit also; I heard people running Dominator GT hyper fully stable at decent clock and latencies and Supertalents requiring a lot more voltage to do the same frequency/timings.
websmile
04-28-2011, 16:33
The Hyper issue is one of the things- I have 32GB hyper from diferent manufacturers and even more different SPD- worst stick runs 1070 C7-7-6 Memtest stable on the board at 1,7V and 1M, but none of the sticks even manages 1001 C9-9-9 32M :)- the fact TRCD 9 or less is blocked at 1120, no matter which other main and subtimings are used on my BBSE and PSC is just a non-important note, boot refuses to boot with Hyper, BBSE, PSC and so on. Intel says you get what you pay, so I think 160€ was not enough as other brands boards of this pricing have mostly same issue.
What really makes me angry is always loading backup bios several times after resets, when board sets defaults there is always the problem some Voltages and adjustments aren´t resetted, profiles sometimes are loaded with different ram multiplikator and so on. This is what I mean when I talk about bugs in my opinion. But I think this should be enough, this is the bios and not the complaint thread :D
My 2600K just hates 32m (actually anything larger then 4m) at high ram frequencies. It behaves exactly the same with two different kits of hypers as well as a kit of PSC stuff.
websmile
04-28-2011, 17:04
No problem with BBSE or PSC- I can run 5GHz+ at 1140 7-10-7 with PSC and BBSE 32M, then BCLKJ limit strikes - would be 7-9-7 if the board wouldn´t block- the Hyper issue is something that quite a few people talk about as "feature"- thinking about that there would be no reason to buy 300€ UD7 for example if hyper would run on UD4 as well because things like BCLK-limit and multi are the same I tend to agree- but who knows, I only seen that same ram that doen´t do 1001 C9 on my UD4 runs 1100 7-7-6 32M on UD7 :D- with less than 1,8V

I tried this several times before-fail. Remembering that I couldn´t install OS on the board with two USB devices I now tried PS2 keyboard and it worked- luckily had one left in the cellar :D- on GA and the 10000000 bugs the board has no comment anymore :(

After searching around this is the only fix I could find listed for 0709.
"1. Fixed system hang if the HDD is NTFS format and the allocation unit size is not 4096 bytes"

Would it be possible to patch a P67A-UD4-B3 bios so we can flash with the Z68 equivalent ? Maybe it's the only way to play with hyper and 2133Mhz divider.
Thanks . :)

I can do,
but will be untested,as I don't own UD4 board.
Let me know,if you want.
Edit:
Modded (untested) BIOS Z68X-UD4-B3 - F6 with Hex Editor XVI32 (working only for P67A-UD4-B3 BIOS):
http://www.mediafire.com/?k0uitnfncmfevp6
Before flashing, set in the BIOS "Optimized Defaults".
Flash with latest @BIOS 2.11 (http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Utility/motherboard_utility_gbttools_gbt_atbios.exe).
After restart,BIOS maybe will "hang" on BIOS Screen for about 2-3 min.
Disable anything what you didn't use, with latest Touch BIOS (http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Utility/mb_utility_touch-bios.exe)
in the Windows.
Restart and after should be OK.Clear CMOS will also speed boot sequence.

Hello Stasio ,
I tried to update the bios , but there was a problem .
After the bios update , the motherboard got stuck at the LOGO screen . I waited more than 4 minutes .
I shut down and cleared CMOS .After the bootup there was no change . Stuck at the LOGO screen.
After 3 restarts , i got "main bios checksum error" and it recovered from the 2nd original P67 bios .
Hi,
yes I have also same problem with UD7,but i leave at the LOGO Screen (third/fourth time) and after some time (maybe 5 min) went to the Windows.I spend arround 1 hour to finally boot at normal way.
Did you try pressing DEL,to went to BIOS?
If BIOS ID it's not good,@BIOS will give "BIOS checksum error" or "Invalid BIOS image" on the beggining.
Btw,
if you don't want to try more here is new BIOS:

Are you have your HD in AHCI/RAID or IDE in the BIOS?
I think Gigabyte added new RAID/AHCI ROM in the BIOS F6.
Maybe this will be the reason.
EDIT:
Lsdmeasap help me to solve the problem (and test).
eSATA option is the problem, not Intel ROM or that new ROM setting in the BIOS, you can set that anyway you want.
But main issue is eSATA setting so anyone that flashed already from yesterdays BIOS files can just wait at the splash screen until they can enter the BIOS, or wait until windows loads and then disable eSATA via BIOS or Touch BIOS.
So these have new RAID Rom (Which didn't matter), and a instruction on how to flash and make the hang stop once you flashed over to Z68X-UD4.

I would like to know what was changed in those BIOS versions compared to the stock BIOS versions from the Manufacturer. Could you please post a changelog or a statement what you did change in the main post?

The files are very different.
Could be a BIOS from another mobo.
Could also be 0604.
I can't check right now if it's for the Gene-Z or not.

0603 also has the extreme tweaking option :p
that option works :D got better 3dm01 scores with lower gpu clocks.
0604 displays 80 in the debug code in windows while with the other bios its AA..

Anyone tested the P67-Deluxe 7702 BIOS?
Getting lower clocks with this BIOS ... no 5700 with a tested 5700 chip. Just testing the Marshall now and it's running 5700 again ... :-/

Just thought I'd add that there are also some beta bios updates for MSI P67A-GD65's up as well.....seems to have been slanting towards the P68 and Z68 and Asus, Gigabyte boards, no offense intended as I know it's hard to keep up with each and every chipset and board from all the makers. Here's the latest from MSI:
E7681IMS.1F3 [v1.15b3], Release-Date: 08/05/2011
- Set LDN 0x05, index 0xFE bit2 to 1 when enter os.
- Fix plug PCI lan card don't boot issue when the "Onboard LAN Controller" item set disabled.
- Update Memory Initialize Reference Code to version: 1.2.2.00.

Biggest issue is the really shitty internet connection I have here. 50KB/s upload is not really good ... :D
Anyways, I'm uploading a bunch of BIOSes now.

True, but you can not do overclocking. The multiplier is locked in x34.

You must have an ES sample, retails not due for release till 29th.
so you just have to put in an ES cpu and than it will work???

No,i meant he must be using an ES,but he has just stated he's got a retail, even though i was under the impression that "retail"chips are not officialy released till the 29th,apart from "official" testers.

Anyone know of any other IB-supported BIOSes for the MIVE?
I have had a terrible time with my MIVE and the 3770k that I just purchased.
This morning I updated to the latest BIOS posted on Asus's site (3208) and did a cmos reset and swapped out my 2600k [worked with 0 issues] and popped in the 3770k.
First of all It won't boot with rated speeds on this memory (it would work on the 2600k no problem): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231454
Which from what I can tell it is PSC per a thread on XS. The fastest I can get it to boot is DDR3-2000 - which sometimes gives an F2 boot code. Consistently 1866 is the highest I can go [without messing with bclk]. Whether I try using the XMP profile or set it up myself via the rated timings I just get debug code '23'. I tried looking in the manual for that code but I can't find anything directly stating 23 unless maybe I am blind.
Beyond that problem it appears that most of the time I boot into Windows both of my monitors go into Power Saving mode and won't ever come back out. I've updated and downgraded my nVidia drivers (I have a single GTX 580 Matrix card) and it hasn't made any difference.
-- edit it looks like the only driver that is working somewhat consistently is the microsoft auto-install one (290.xx)
Anyone have any ideas?
counter cs from xs is running the ivy @ the mive @ 2400 mem without problems i guess at 3202 bios.

Nice find, thanks. I'll see if I can get my hands on that BIOS to try ruling it out.
Tried 3202, same issue. Pretty much out of ideas now. I switched back to my 2600k and the RAM is hitting exactly where it should.

it could be bad imc, its time for rma
Thanks Honda, that is what I was afraid of.
I bought an MVG should be here by the end of the week to rule out the possibility of it being my MIVE.
For all MSI Z68 users out there, wanting to run Ivy, check out this page:
http://event.msi.com/mb/22nm/
BIOS updates from the normal MSI site will not yet support Ivy on Z68.
For Z68A-GD80 G3, download this file: http://download1.msi.com/files/downloads/bos_exe/E7672vJ0.zip
Copy to root-folder of a bootable USB flashdrive, and boot from the device using a Sandy Bridge CPU.
Type: "E7672vJ0" and press enter to flash. It will update both BIOS and Intel ME rom to support Ivy. Between BIOS and ME flashing, the system will reboot atleast once.
Hope this can be helpfull. Found out the hard-way, but it's working now.
