The list below represents my system: CPU: i7 4820k Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 CPU Cooler: Kraken X61 RAM: 16GB HyperX Savage 1866 Power supply: Corsair RM1000i Graphics: Gainward GTX 1080 GLH I can rather easily overclock the system to 4.2Ghz using an additional 0.080 VCore. Anything above that, however, requires me to go beyond 1.43V on the vcore. That seems ridiculously high, even for Ivy. I did try setting the LLC to "Extreme" which at least keeps the cvore under load at the same level but it does not help at all with the overclock. The same is true for the memory. Dialing it down to 1600 does not improve overclocking either. Sadly this is where my knowledge ends. I would very much like to get this thing to 4.5GHz but I fear that it might be impossible. Do you have experience with this board? Do I need to tweak other voltages that the vcore? Or am I just out of luck? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You either have one of the worst 4820K's I've ever seen, or you are using the auto overclocking features which are terrible to say the least. An additional 0.08v from where? I am currently running the CPU at 4.2GHz with 0.08V additional vcore using an offset on top of the "Normal" setting for the vcore. That is 1.21 + 0.08 = 1.29 on the idle vcore. The > 1.4V comes from me trying to reach 4.4GHz. I slowly raised the vcore until Windows booted. Then I had to raise again to have Prime95 run for a few minutes at least. Then I had to raise it again to have a successful 2 hour run of Prime95 without a crash. It was somewhat stable at 1.43V for 4.4Ghz which is ridiculous. Hence my fear of having a very very bad CPU. Or could the board maybe be the culprit? I am reaching here.... just don't want my CPU to be that bad. ;( Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
