i3-6100 won't overclock

boot

Recommended Posts

Hello! I have been using this setup for a while now on base speeds and thought I'd go for the overclocking part today.

This is the setup.

i3-6100

msi z170a gaming pro carbon

g.skill ripjaws V ddr4 2x8gb 3200mhz

geforce gtx 960

Following the updated guide for msi boards, I got a message saying overclocking failed and all settings reverted to default. I tried googling around for a bit, tried resetting the settings by removing battery and changing the values after that (bclk, core voltage, ram speed) a bit.

It seems that increasing the bclk value won't work at all. After exiting bios and saving the settings my pc starts, and after a while I hear a small noise and it resets again (on default settings I assume), bclk stays at 100. The settings don't get reset in bios, but clocks wont go up at all.

Any ideas?
