It's a little less secure than before, but still secure enough. If I ever need to restore the database after a crash, I can use the binary logs up to 7 days after the incident, instead of 30 before.

We make complete database backups every 7 days, so there is no need to keep them longer than 7 days. They use a huge amount of disk space. : )

Indeed, and it's in a compressed binary format in contrary to manual database dumps to sql files.
