View Full Version : Any decent storage benchmark out there?
As the title says ... any good storage out there? Preferably not a subpart of another benchmark (eg: pcmark or passmark).
Oh, and is there any software like ~ SDD-Z or something? :)

Yes, there is one storage benchmark :) IO Meter
Don't like all the others, have used them alot for reviews, but they aren't as good as IO Meter.
Try ppbm5. It test the whole balance of your system

you can't overclock storage systems..lmao

^there's a couple. You can test them out maybe you find a gem. If your running xp its got a junk disk alignment which creates a lot more I/0 especially on raid arrays.

Actually, yes you can. SSDs can be overclocked

....
pcie based ssd we're tweaked by raising pcie bus speed, but id rather not kill such hardware lol
Still looking for a benchmark with single figure benchmark score.
if a single number is what your looking for than your choices are very limited - AS SSD, pcmark05 total or HDD or pcmv total or HDD. I have never tried - what is it - passmark? and of course you know there is a new pcmark in the works, what else that gives a single number? you could probably contruct something out of iometer but there are so maany set up variables that if you wanted several people to use the same settings - it gets hard. tough problem.
Passmark is a PCMark alternative.
AS SSD looks pretty neat. I like that it's free and provides 'subtest' figures as well as a single number overall score. Do you have any experience with it?

Here's some more info about it http://www.overclock.net/ssd/754763-ssd-benchmark-thread.html

I use AS SSD in reviews; it's a quick easy button-press-then-score bench. IOMeter is the best, but it has been out of development for a long time and it is a royal pain in the arse to use.
Anyway, if you're looking for something rather consistent (+/- 10 points is normal as far as I can tell) and point-giving, AS SSD is your bench.
Anyone tried victoria? Dunno if the new one works for ssds but for mechanical its a great bench app. Does it offline as well so windows can interfere with the performance.
