So translated in proper feedback, you're saying:

- weight distribution of tpp rankings should be less steep (= more points for less competition)
- reconsider balance between global tpp and hardware tpp

When I middle click a submission in a ranking to open in a new tab, the page I wanted does open in a new tab, but the tab that I middle clicked in changes to that page too. So I end up with two tabs displaying a certain submission, rather than one tab with the ranking and one tab with a submission. This happens in chrome but not FF (haven't tested IE). I find it extremely irritating.

to have temporary access to features that aren't in actual rev4 but where in rev3.x, time they are availbale in rev4.1.

Hi, another report about few bugs. :)

after the system update my total score drops from 400+ to 358 points (perhaps in the result of wrong calculations). When I calculate the HWbot points from each my submission manualy, I got the right result (400+ points), but this is not true according to the system.

Also there are some my old results with 8600, which are in global ranking, but aren't in my profile submissions.

1.) i've an Asus Board but i have choosen one time an Asrock in a submission. And now every time i take the template and change the name from Asrock to Asus it leaves on Asrock.

Submitted total 63 entries but its still stuck showing only 56. I submitted various entries that should have added to my points but everytime I check the results where the same. The achievements .. I should have unlocked the 10 cups&ribons one but it was still stuck showing only 9 even though it showed 4 gold , 4 bronze , 2 ribbons. Now I lost a rank so today its 4gold , 3bronze , 3 ribbons .. still no 10 cup/ribbon acheivment unlock.

I counted all of my points and it should be into the 90+ team points but mine is still stuck showing only 83 total in achievements and 85 somthing total.

Bring back the recalculate button, I used to fix all of this before but now there is nothing to use. I think the site overall is worse than before.



My maxmem says its invalid as others I have looked at even though I used the HWBOT everything. Also yesterday I had a submission show up that wasnt even mine but it was under my name. I deleted it.

From usability point of view, rev3 was better :p One example: switching between benchmarks now takes 2 clicks (dropdown click + item click), compared to the single click in rev3 (tab switch).

I might have missed that, but where's the place one could easily see the sample screenshot for a given benchmark? Let's say I wanna submit PCMark04, but I can't find the screenshot? Rules and Guides from top nav -> PCMark04 leads to front page, and there's no clue on the benchmark page or I'm blind :).

In rev3 it was done with a scheduler background. Good thing about that is that submission itself is instantanious, but you have to wait a while before your submission gets ranked and has points.

Now it's done immediately... I can change it to a scheduler again but then other people will complain they don't immediately get points/rank. :p

I think only the people who submit 50 scores at the same time have a good reason to complain:p Still, that can be voided if it's possible to submit more results at once, without screwups (like open 10 submit score tabs, and when pressing submit on the first one, you do the next one and so on). If it takes 10 participants to generate PP AND if you have >20 hw submissions, unique (unpopular hardware) is pointless again (pun intended).

In Rev 3 you added the 2 point "freebie" points to unpopular hardware. Many people who bench this hardware do it for their team. Right now they are getting 0 team points and no hwpoints because it fell off the bottom of their submissions limit (as apposed to adding up to 300 hw points).

Can you reduce the # of participants needed to generate PP. Or add "freebie" PP points like you do with HW points?

So 1st place in a hw category with 9 participants is worth 2/10 = .2 team points. And maybe 2 individual hw points, if its in your top 20 submissions.

Honestly this doesn't matter to me much. But I think many people would be happy to see this changed. Plus it would encourage people to continue to bench unpopular hardware. I see people who won't submit .1 results. It actually hurts the database as a whole. Just my 2c.

How long does it take before the backlog's changes are put into affect? Months before rev4.1 or a minor update in a week or two?
Really did enjoy seeing the cups and medals on the page for a top5 submission, and miss getting updates about my ranking in different categories. :)

I'm still not clear how TPP are calculated. It's says what is below at the link you provided, but it doesn't say how TPP are calculated; or, doesn't appear to.

My overclockers league points are 327.6; my UP is 411.6. The league points are lower than the UP points because only the 15/20 best scores count.

But, my TPP points are 1030.7. Why are the TPP points so much higher than the UP points of 411.6?

I disagree, because if we separe amd from intel, than it would be fair to separe AMD from nvidia because the 6970 generation simply can't keep up with the gtx580, than we must separate Cedar Mills from other cpus in CPUz etc...etc...
Amd isn't doing good cpus (talking about ipc, not price/value), then there would be less points until they release something good like the olg Athlon XP, athlon 64 etc.. :)

Sorry, I didnt want to offend the crew. People complained about search because it wasnt that good in rev3. But in rev4 its already a lot better. I know this rev is written from scratch but people, or at least me, expected same functionality as rev3.
Anyway decisions are made, I will wait. :)

Not in the short run. The way it was implemented in rev3 made the website ofter respond very slow. It seems the livestream api is sometimes very slow to respond.

I think it would be a good idea if a total sum of one's hardware and global points could be visible in their profile, not only those that count towards the pro/overclocker/enthusiast ranking. (otherwise the hardware masters (http://hwbot.org/league/hardware_masters) rank doesn't give you insta-updates so you don't know how much hardware points exactly you have gained)

I noticed something strange: yesterday we got a new member (Moose83). He contributes ~370 points to the team... says the team-page.

But our total-points haven't changed. No additional points - it's the same amount like the day before. How can this be?

I have the same problem on my team, it's the second time this problem occurs. The new user is ranked on the contribution page, but not on the team ranking page and his scores do not add points to the team score.
I'm not sure what solved the first case, but it's fixed now.

Sadly enough, no.

We make use of two team_id entries in our database: one in the user database (to link a user to a team) and one in the result database (to link a result to the team). Normally, the engine should update all the team_id fields in the result table when the user changes team, but that is not the case at the moment. The team_id key in the user database is working.

For performance reasons, we make use of the team_id key of the result table to find all results of the team rather than going through the user database. So, to fix your problem, I have to manually update the result table with the user's new team.

It's a small bug, so it should be that difficult to solve.

If I am searching for a graphic card boints. I select the benchmark and then a particular score, when hitting browser back button, benchmark listed always go back to 3DM01, I am sure something similar would be happening with CPU too.....

So is it possible that bot remembers the benchmark and page we were browsing???

And finally, when i look in this thread TPP. This goes against the principle of encouraging benching (http://www.hwbot.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27487) - it's gonna be a little bit ridiculous, when i hear "Looking into this, sounds like we might have missed something in the R4 logic."! ;)

The TPP contribution of a user is relative to the team is he is part of. So, a user can have 1000 TPP points in one team, but only 250 TPP when he goes to another team. Practical example:

- User A is the only one playing with dry ice in Team X => all his scores are the best of his team => a lot of TPP
- User A changes to Team Y, in which most members play with LN2 => 1/2 of his scores are the best of the team => less TPP

When User A, who for example has 1000 TPP in Team X, leaves the team, it also means that other users will now have the 'best score of team' in new categories. So, it's possible you lose 1000 TPP member, but the loss is covered by all the other members and therefore is lower than the 1000 TPP.

A phase change unit is a phase change unit, a watercooling loop at no matter which liquid temps is a watercooled loop... how many will use chilled water ? How many will change the fluid to the special ones that work well beyond sub zero...

Plus if you want to be on top you know what to use...

I reckon if the whole cooling unit (chiller) attached uses a compressor then it's classed as phase. AC on an air rig is still air cooled as it's not attached as it's blowing on it (and it's the only way you'll compete with the Nordic guys).

But if chillers are allowed in the water cooling league (enthusiast) even though when they go real cold they don't contain water then why not include cascades.? I condense gas to a liquid and when it hits my block (evap) it's still liquid (but boils off in there), bascially the same thing :p

Chillers = phase.... end off.

If you don't like it then man-up and move up to be classed in the Overclockers league.

A lot of guys have been asking and pushing for a seperate league for air and water for years on here and they have it and you want to spoil it for them. For some it's they only way they can push what they have, mainly beginners.
I see that this way they will be mergin the leagues as it will be too much of a gray area.
Enthusiast league... just air and water (if you bench outside then good for you).
Overclockers league... chillers, tec, + everything else.

Chilled watercooling is submitted to water category, because you also still use a waterblock on you're cpu, like a normal watercooling setup.

only the means of HOW the water is cooled is different.

Is there an intention to re-introduce cups/ medals beside each result.... or even just a number? I'm having a hard time seeing what each submission is, hardware ranking wise. I think I asked a couple weeks ago, I think I was hoping it would make it to patch #1 :)

Also, on our profile page where it displays the number of gold/silver/bronze we have, we cannot click into each one to get a result breakdown, so I/we cant check that way



Could HWB make a sticky post with a list of what is planned for each revision so we dont keep asking for the same things? It's easy to miss requests given how many posts are in these threads.

Has been a few times now - no recalc button needed in this rev due to the code, and pictures only needed for submissions from now on. If submitted before rev4, it still counts for enthusiast with or without pictures.

in that case we NEED a recalculate button...there are some huge discrepancies in scores...not only mine....

i readed somewhere on forum that there is still a problem with recalculate, but now there is a recalculate button under each score.

It's better to have a global button for this that recalculate everything on profile posted.

Button of recalculate boints is needed because if submission failed at entry submission , you can after recalculate and add boints.

I entry two submissions , are the best entry's but systems says do not best and dont add boints and after I see submission folder at profile and personal boints not added but at submission directory are added with boints.
