PCMark05 Transparent Windows Score

Recommended Posts

I was looking the pcmark scores and found some results that have high transparent windows at win7 .

Transparent scales with cpu clocks . It's like a cpu benchmark .

For example ...

1st) http://hwbot.org/submission/2160869_omega3_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_35882_marks

11000 transparent , win7 , 2600k @ 5300 .

2nd) http://hwbot.org/submission/2178436_s_a_v_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_35748_marks

10800 transparent , win7x64 , 2600k @ 5500 .

3rd) http://hwbot.org/submission/2160841_gyrock_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_34673_marks

10800 transparent , win7x64 , 2600k @ 5300 .

4th) http://hwbot.org/submission/2165869_yancyan_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_33136_marks

10800 transparent , win7 , 2600k @ 5500 .

5th) http://hwbot.org/submission/2142160_s_a_v_pcmark_2005_core_i5_2500k_34344_marks

12800 transparent , win7 , 2500k @ 5400 .

6th) http://hwbot.org/submission/2142470_s_a_v_pcmark_2005_core_i5_2500_27719_marks

9600 transparent , win7 , 2500 @ 4070 .

Normal scores for these clocks would and win7 would be around 7000-8500 , from my experience . You can find many pcmark results with similar transparent score .

I have never seen any higher score than 8800 even at 5700 Mhz 2600K at win7 .

Also , regarding vista . It seems that you can get a score around 16000 to 19000 .

How is possible to get 31000 ???

http://hwbot.org/submission/2128177_steponz_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_37340_marks/

This is with 980x ... http://hwbot.org/submission/1040000_vento1_pcmark_2005_core_i7_extreme_980x_32970_marks

35000 marks with 5200 Mhz 980x

Also very high with 6core ... http://hwbot.org/submission/2139248_s_a_v_pcmark_2005_xeon_x5667_6_cores_31247_marks

10800 at 4850 mhz ...

I'm not saying that all these users above are cheaters !

The high transparent score is just something that is bothering me and my teammates a long time now . We have tried various tweaks etc with no real gain .

Good Transparent Windows run is 13к for Win7 (2600K@5600MHz) and 16.5k on Win8 (2600K@5300MHz).

"Vista > Win8 > Win7" for Transparent Windows subtest but overall score is "Win8 > Win7 > Vista".

Transparent Windows is not only one "tweakable" pcmark05 subtest. There is some other scores with "anomalies":

Virus Scan:

http://hwbot.org/submission/2130814_freakezoit_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_37031_marks

http://hwbot.org/submission/2129940_freakezoit_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_36991_marks

2000+ MB/s with "only" two iRAM's?

It's two scores with different settings, so it seems repeatable and may not bugged.

But I don't see anyone close to this in whole top20...

Web Page Rendering:

most people got 21-22 pages/s with IE9 and Win7, but there is also scores with 26-32 pages/s.

26 pages/s (subzero): http://hwbot.org/submission/2186476_subzero_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_42059_marks

32 pages/s (pro): http://hwbot.org/submission/2188240_pro_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_43116_marks'>http://hwbot.org/submission/2188240_pro_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_43116_marks

I can get so high only with Win8, but not with Win7.

Video Encoding:

1xxx MB/s without WMV PowerToy (or directly editing registry setting) and 2xxx MB/s with it.

3990 MB/s (pro): http://hwbot.org/submission/2188240_pro_pcmark_2005_core_i7_2600k_43116_marks

3D Pixel Shader:

3xxx untweaked and 4xxx tweaked. Already discussed here:

I made a similar thread, didnt see this one :P

Persoanlly, I feel that we should say "anything goes" or remove at least globals from this benchmark, it seems like veryone has their own opinion on how the benchmark works, and a LOT of the scores are all over the place when you look at subtests.

we said no points for maxxmem because too bugged......

Sorry but I see PCMark05 much more bugged than maxxmem.

And with maxxmem its easy to see if its bugged

I say bugged, but it can be some really good/legit/hardcore tweak too... But how to know

S_A_V is right everywhere as I know he ran a lot of pcmark05 and know a lot about

btw 13k for transparent wondows :D I sux, I have only 6k :P

What i can tell about the latest video encoding boost that people saw a few months ago is that all it does is to use all the CPU cores .

How to do this ? Simply install the latest Pcmark05 1.2.2 build from futuremark (it appears as 1.2 but it's 1.2.2. in reality) ... and after that install a newer Futuremark Systeminfo (V3.6 or V4) .

After that your video encoding speed will go up from 2XXX to 3600 .

About the transparent i haven't found any way to give it a boost. I'm stuck at 8000-9000 at 5700Mhz 2600K .

I have played with registry settings .... Blur , Alpha blend , Aero tweaks etc .

I just have a feeling that it's something with the 3d acceleration .

3D pixel shader needs LOD , gpu clocks ... and direct3doverrider with triple buffer enabled and vsync disabled .

That virus scan you found is way too high for sure .

Web page rendering needs to close all the IE addons and play with some advanced settings .

If i remember something else , i'll post it . :)

Well Mr.Paco's one was sure bugged unfortunately :(

He proved himself with the video and the screenshots he provided us. Bugs are part of the life, sometimes the bug is evident, but sometimes not, thats why he posted the 18k score and not the 25k one, he is honest.

Btw he hasnt posted the 13-15k score that seemed to be not bugged at all, I hope he is not sulking (dont know the right word, sorry)

Based on the above info, I'm not so sure, and based on some of the other staff's input, I'm thinking they're not so sure either.

Nope. Sulking isn't his style. Just busy with other things right now.

based on the different runs he got, his scores were bugged for sure.

but that is not the topic here...

It is most certainly relevant to the topic. The topic pertains to complaints of abnormally high transparent windows and encoding/virus scan scores. Same complaint that Frank's run was marked bugged for.

Nevermind. I'm talking to a wall here.

Good luck men.:)

So now we get to PCM again :)

I suggest to make full subtest details mandatory. For example, two screenshots with the upper and lower parts.

Stelaras, as I remember, the video encoder's registry entries allowed to set the number of cores being used. Maybe the 1.2.2 build does the same?

Did you try to run the integrated Vista performance test to see what happens with Transparent windows score?

+ 1 I agree 100% with this, make full subtest details mandatory + FM Orb Link on every submision.

i've done so my last bench. now I've done 38k, but I can't do validate.

Is Powertoy allowed ? if it is, I can do over 5000 in video encoding

Another question... for XP startup i'm getting crazy every time to brake acards. How can I switch disks during the test ?

Oh well that's just great...

I need an electronics degree to put a zombie card on my gpu

I need a special contact at intel/amd to get that super binned cpu

I need a special contact at asus/gigabyte/msi/evga to get that super binned video card

I need a special contact at asus/gigabyte/msi/evga to get that special overclocking software

I need a special contact at asus/gigabyte/msi/evga to get that special bios

I need a special contact at the local prax air to get that discount on LN2

and if that's not enough, I need degree in programing  .... or will HWBOT soon offer an online registry hacking class for a reasonable fee?

Nope, you'll be on your own unless you're in the loop. ;)

You're welcome to hang with CP though, we're not in the loop either.

Do you need a special licence for all the whining?

Just an update ... It's been a few days since i logged in here and i'm trying to catch up .

I found the "tweak" by myself . It's nothing special . Clean and totally legit .

It gives a transparent score around 13000 at win7 . Don't know about vista , but i suspect around 30000 possible.

As i'm pretty sure many people want to know , here is the tranparent tweak i found a week ago ... This one gives a pretty nice boost to 12K + .

You just have to move the mouse while running transparent test. Try to find the optimal speed . You don't have to move it all through the run . Sometimes moving it for a few secs is what needed .

I found ikt accidentaly while browsing with my 2nd PC . I share the same mousepad and i accidentaly moved the bench rig mouse while browsing with the 2nd . :D
