Seems like batch might matter this time. SB was a multi wall - these are speed walls. With the strap option, you can put the multi down crazy low and still hit the same wall.

Unless SB's walls were speed walls and not multi walls, we just couldn't find out b/c there was no strap option. Hmm...

I never thought of these walls as multi walls, but always as speed walls. I don't understand how people could be confused about it eiter ... it was quite clear that you could hit pretty much the same MHz (within 10Mhz ratio) with different multi/mp combinations.

Hah, i wish I had a chip that good. For stability anyway, my chip takes 1.4 for 4.7GHz. I didn't try in between that and 1.5V for 5.0GHz (was in a hurry), but at ~1.51V, it runs 5.0GHz WP1024 stable. Sadly, my chip seems to hit an ambient wall at 5.1GHz. Via multi or UEFI it doesn't operate at that temp. I'm going to have to go cold to see if it improves. I'm worried that 5.1 is my speed wall, but there's only one way to find out.

anyone get odd results when comparing multiplier vs stock BLCK to lower multi and higher BLCK divider with stock 100mhz blck?

You gotta keep memory and CPu speed constant, and just change up the dividers and multis.

Heh, on the RIVE ASUS said screw turbo. Their default setting on "Load Optimized Defaults" is all cores 39x all the time. That's my kind of board. :D

(But if you feel like manually setting it, you can change whatever tubro frequency you want for one through six core loads.)

MSI has it in last BIOS too, because Asus has it i all BIOses from LGA 1155 launch :)

True, as soon as MSI heard Asus was "cheating" with the turbo they also changed their turbo, which is now default 39x on all cores.

Ok i just tested it. It changes maximum switching frequency and removed turbo setting from Vcore Voltage response. Vcore voltage response isn't important, it really does nothing, as we saw it removed with BIOS F4.

Switching frequency has had no affect on this board, and I don't think 80KHz less than the previous maximum will make a difference.

They changed these two settings so xfastest users can't burn their boards up at stock.

They probably fast tracked a BIOS, but yea i wasn't expecting F7.

Max OC on air is not lowered.

Even with bios 30 (all power saving disabled)

Memory will not go over 1600Mhz (DDR3 2133Mhz 1.65v stock, works on UD7)

Among other problems...

Even with bios 30 (all power saving disabled)

Yes, I see all of these. The only way to change CPU multiplier is with ELEET control turned on, but for review I need Turbo to work properly.

Hi, first post!
I'm intrigued by the beta BIOISs for Gigabyte's GA-X79-UD7. I'd like to try the F9a version () hurry dual BIOS!) , but I have some questions and I did not find a BIOS FAQ.

1) Where do these BIOISs come from? Friends within Gigabyte?
2) How can we find out what the version is supposed to accomplish, are there change-logs anywhere?
3) Where/how can I provide feedback on a BIOS, and where can I see whats happening to other "testers"? Is this thread the best place?

1) BIOS came from Gigabyte R&D Taiwan.
2) No changelog atm.
(F9A probably like F8 with some compatibility enhancements or updated microcode.)

I can't use my Elpida Hyper SST memory on UD7 with f8 and f9a bios.

must say that the 4 2GB 1866 c7 hyper modules I have here do 2133 7-8-7-21-80-1T @ 1.75V on Rampage IV Extreme (ok, other board, dut still hypers on x79)

With the 3960X ES chip I had, using Elpida BBSE and Hypers I needed around 0.15V more to achieve same freq/timings compared to s1155. From what I observe on forums, in most cases the situation is slimiar, however, I've seen some examples (by OPB and Hazzan) when MHz/volt scaling with Elpida was similar to one of 1155.
With PSC and Hynix, there are no such issues.

X79/SBE is quad-channel 1600 supported, SB is dual-channel 1333. But you're right, anything above that is up to the manufacturer to support, used in marketing, etc

2133Mhz at cold start, always corrupted...and moreover need higher Vdimm 1.725V to run Quad at 9-11-10-30-214-1T....so not pretty to run daily.
