View Full Version : Hwbot drops support for F1OC.
As of today, hwbot officially drops support for the F1OC competition. We applaud the idea of a worldwide manufacturer team competition, but we strongly disagree with how it is organized and are not allowed to make improvements. Allowing participants to submit both on hwbot and by email, is confusing and ...
Yeah using the hwbot provided xml feed and having it grabbed and parsed on f1 site displaying stats/ranks etc would of been the easiest way to have handled this. Shame it had to come to this :(
btw, was the competitions xml feed ever made public ?? would love to see the format of the xml file just to see how one of of parsed it :)
I reckon RB can send it to you :)
The competition feed has been available since late August:
It even has a proper xsd:
Is this the reason youngpro left hwbot?
Not sure. He didn't leave, by the way, he switched to no-boints.
Thanks RB... been ages since i touched php related code for parsing xml - so very rusty but whipped up a basic routine pulled from xml feed.
Either is my sucky php coding skills or the XML layout that is confusing me hehe
Yeah James/pro just set to no points for a break from hwbot.
Neat, EVA2000. You put the xml api to good use. :)
Ha, I often get Eva2000 and Maxi confused for some reason. :)
haha.. thanks finally the light bulb went off in my head and finally got it right!!!
but not sure what's deal with hyphenated elements i.e. profile-link... didn't turn up well when referenced i.e $pirank->profile-link. Maybe for ease of use dump hyphens so profile-link becomes profilelink and submission-link becomes submissionlink for future xml feeds IF F1 continues or similar comps are planned.
This time, I'll follow the lead of XS for once. Thread closed.
This is what happens next month:
- Submissions are sent in by mail
- Scores will be unveiled at the end of the month on the F1-OC.org microsite
- Discussion about the scores will follow afterwards
