View Full Version : SF3D OC Triple Point - New Ln2 pot for memory
Here is the official launch text:
We are happy to announce new professional liquid nitrogen container for memory modules. This product is targeted to enthusiasts who like to push their hardware to absolute limits.
Container is designed by Finnish extreme overclocker Petri Korhonen (SF3D) and it is produced in Poland by another extreme overclocker Marcin Rywak (ryba).
The new liquid nitrogen cooler for memory modules is called SF3D OC Triple Point. This product will bring fresh innovations to memory cooling and take it to the level it belongs.
For example mounting mechanism is completely new, so you can use all types of memory modules since DDR1 era to latest DDR3 products.
Now you can connect the memory module directly to LN2 cooler, so you don't need to use stock heatsink with very bad thermal transfer abilities.
You can use up to 4* memory modules at once.
Triple Point cooling comes with the following bundle:
- Full solid main block (aluminium for easy temperature control)
- Cooling plates for memory modules (4 plates in each set fit for all memory types)
- Mounting screws
- Insulation (Armaflex mat)
*For quad channel operation you need to use 2 sets of Triple Point LN2 cooler.

Looks great...
Nice job
not bad Petri, i like the mounting design
I live very much this ram pot beacause can be used not only with dominator .....

It can be used even with SDRAMs :) So Ney will love it for sure :D
Pro: thank you that you love what I made.
This pot definitely works!
Dual channel DDR3 2558MHz with 7-7-7 latencies.
http://sf3d.pp.fi/images/SF3D%20OC%20Triple%20point/aida%2064.png
I failed with CPU-Z, cause I did not remember to update it. My suicide dual channel 1300MHz 7-7-7 run is ok, but not able to publish, cause version was 1.59. I hate that thing in CPU-Z!!!
Temperature was -30C real and memory voltage 1.975V. There must be a lot left in this setup, cause IMC seems to be ok in this BD.
Max memory clocks are next on the line.
if it's "important" you can send your 1.59 dump to Franck or Sam from CPUz and ask them to validate
impressive Hyper clocks for AMD, I couldn't get Hypers to work above 1150 regardless of timings on mine

Nah, it is not important. This was just the first quickie. Need to do insulation etc better and try more with correct CPU version.
Yeah, I also though my hypers did not like AMD, but I was wrong. These sticks have done 1145MHz max 7-7-7 before with Sandy Bridge, so there is quite a lot improvement in the results.
Some superpi 32M with 1200MHz+ 7-7-7 and 6.XX GHz Ivy Bridge will be interesting :)

What sort of numbers do you get using a high RPM fan on the sticks? I wonder what sort of gains you get more than the actualy numbers:)

Yes, everyone should want this pot!!!
I hope the final clocks will be really impressive :) This was just the start for my tests.

So you're comparing max clocks on SB with max clocks on Bulldozer. Nice :P
I think Knut asked about comparison on the same platform.
Anyway, great clocks on that screenshot.
Pretty product Petri, and very nice mounting.
Will Cu version be available at later point?

Why do ya want Cu ?
I don't see the need of Cu over Al for a memory pot

Well, I have tested these sticks with some other intel CPU's as well and the one still under NDA did not change a thing, even though it is a lot better with some Hynix ;) On X58 platform these did 1090MHz max, so I do know how these are clocking. Thanks for reminding about these things.

Will Cu version be available at later point?
Cu version would just add a lot of costs, but gain would be close to 0.
So, answer is no. There will not be any Cu version.
I agree with M.Beier, Cu version is needed for the massive heatload the memory is producing. Certainly close to 200W, which means that Cu version will give a crazy badass possibility to finetune the temperature to at least 0.1°C, making it perfect to work around coldbug and coldbootbug. Response is insanely important with memory, especially in quad channel configuration (image 200W x 4 !! wtf, crazy). The Alu version is nice, but I'm not sure if it will suffice to keep Hyper stable at DDR3-2400C6-6-6 at 2.3V, as M.Beier already indicated. So, yes, it would be nice to have a Cu version. Perhaps also with an updated internal rework since it's possible that the current design is not capable of handling fast response needed?
I agree with M.Beier.
CU is heavy some memories don't like high pressure, alu if mounted well enough for any load i think.
nice 7-7-7 run there petri
PJ, dont feed the ....

Real attempts are close now. Did correct insulation etc.

I wish I would have some single stick for max mhz attempts. I have just random hynix here.

Good Job Petri! Triple Point now officially released and i believe marketing works!:) Some kind of record here? :D
nice result SF3D!
keep up the good work!
oh, and lovely pot too!
would pming/emailing you for a idea on cost/shipping to Australia for the pot be a good idea?

Hmm looked at it again, do you have to remove ram heat spreader to be able to use this pot?
ryba (PurePC.pl)

You need to use god finger. Buy it in special price from my stock ^^
Damn, I thought you didn't have to remove heat spreaders off RAM

oi ryba when are you going to give me special price? lol

You must be joking Dino?
The stock HS is usually the weakest link in memory oc with ln2. Now you can cool the memory chips directly with the plates. No matter what brand or what type of memory you have.
Corsair with glued HS can be used without removing them, no problems.
P.S
Tested some Elpida BDBG, Hynix and some unknown memory chips and all scale very well above the speed they do on air or ghetto pots. Temperature is very easy to control and keep in some desired spot. Now I just need to find good BD chip which have IMC for max memory attempts. Two latest CPU's were not good at all.

Petri can you make some pics how you insulated the memory?
Here are the messy pictures of insulation etc. Will need to do guide about insulation later with better pictures.
It is very easy to insulate and the cold does not spread to motherboard anymore. It is great improvement.
Perfect contact!!!

sadpart that you have to use quite a lot of thermal paste on RAM ... is there any cheap alternative that works at -180 as well ?
ryba (PurePC.pl)
03-18-2012, 20:40
it's not a sad part: you don't need a Gelid or any other expensive thermal paste... you can use the cheapest white silicon paste and it will be ok. Mems aren't Fermi ;)

You can use basic ceramique for ram. I used the large 22g tube, so it will not cost nothing.
I used OCZ freeze between the pot and thermal plates and it worked very well. In there paste should be something like Gelid GC Extreme.

great results SF3D...what about higher voltage for RAM? I tried 1,975 V for my Hyper MGH-E on air with Bulldozer and it was benchable @ 2400 8-8-8-24 and I think it could go higher :D with 2,1 V on Llano platform was able to hit 2000 6-6-6-18 1T

While you are on the case SF3D.....please ask Ryba to send a young pal of mine his 2 sets he ordered and paid for on the 15th of April. Ryba promised to have tracking details sent yesterday ... (granted, holiday in most of Europe) but Gilles tells me nothing received today at all. :( Not a great start for a bunch of young guys looking to get into the sport of Ocing.
Funny...he has time to bench and post...but not take care of biz...... :(

And...here we are......still NOTHING! Not even an email. Zilch (big thumbs down)
I got some info today, that they have some national holidays this week and he have been away from home.
That is not an excuse, but still it is the real reason of delays. He should answer all e-mails etc. as soon as possible.
There is quite a lot of work on that, but I think it should be ok very soon. If not, send me a pm directly.

i think, there is no need to freak out ;) - last weekend was a long one in europe, so allow ryba some freetime :D
just wanted to comment on this as i always received what i ordered in a reasonable timeframe. :)

While I am jealous of your good fortune & prompt delivery...times are a changing. Welcome to the real world as after numerous EMPTY promises ...... STILL NOTHING!!!!!!
Just got a PM from the young lads in question and they have received no promised tracking details or verification of shipment. (can show you the PM's where this was promised many times)
If you are going to put a product out there for the masses.....honour your word and don't come across as a worthless liar & profiteer.

Well, I was really nice and kind for all so I will not change it.
Like I said: today I shipped package and tomorrow I can make you picture of shipping letter if you really want. International tracking number is active in 2-3 days. Package will be delivered this week (or monday).
I thought that only Persian and Spain ppl are creazy and unsettled.

Package will be packed tomorrow and shipped asap. Tomorrow everything will be done, and I will let you know about it" .................. This was 8 days ago
So....what part of the English language don't YOU understand?? Unsettled? How about doing business AS YOU PROMISED?? Shall I continue with your other PM's which promised immediate delivery?
Tracking is active as soon as its in the system. Period.

I guess people must be crazy if they don't expect to wait one week longer than promised for stuff to be shipped.
Any decent seller would apologize instead of attack in a situation like this... just my 2 cents. Not to mention give a final date for the stuff to be shipped, and actually keep that promise.
Ok, I have investigated this situation with this one customer, who unfortunately needed to wait his product too long. It have been send now and the customer should receive it soon. I have seen the e-mail he got and it should explain all from rybas side.
We will only discuss about the sales and issues on delivery with the persons who have ordered the actual products. The reason for delay have been explained to customers who have been affected. Situation is completely normal at the moment, so there won't be any delays with current Inflection point or Triple point orders.
Ryba already apologized in this thread and have explained situation in e-mails to customers, so I think this case is closed. The ones who call other people as a liar without having nothing to do with the deals should think a bit more. That will not help anything in the end.
Thanks for the interest on these ln2 products! Keep pushing people!

that means they need to make more. its not fun to change heatspreaders to different modules.. it takes a lot of time and wastes a lot of TIM
