The 8600GT is mediocre (same performance as GF7 at same price), the 8600GTS is too expensive, and the 8500GT is just plain awful. The GF8400 has a 64bit memory bus, so I doubt whether it will be capable of playing even the most basic games. You might as well get a Radeon 9250, or a GF6200...
