Oh. Dunno, wouldn't make sense not to go through with it now. They don't expect the OC to yield high sales (compared to mainstream) and already put in so much R&D cost in it.

Not releasing it would just be throwing money out the window.

Foxconn Dreadnought and Asus PinoNoir come to mind..... it does happen sometimes, but I don't think the X58A-OC is going to be an example of hyped-> canned

Why did they shorten the NB heatsink on the memory side?

I could see maybe making it smaller for more room in the CPU socket area, but they didn't need to shorten the width towards the memory because nothing goes there.

The silver metal sticking out under the NB stands out like a sore thumb

I know looks aren't everything and this does not affect the OC-ability, but still.... Hopefully that will at least be painted black in the final retail revision.
