HWBOT Tales of Taipei #1 - First Blog at GIGABYTE
As some of you might know, I’m currently hanging out at the City of Hardware – Taipei, Taiwan. Given I am literally just an hour away from most the headquarters of most hardware vendors, I will pass by the office regularly to test some of the new and upcoming (read: NDA) products as well as say hi to their resident overclockers. Of course, I don’t want you guys to miss out on all the action, so I will try to keep you updated on the overclocking-related stuff that goes on behind doors and try to feed as much information as possible from the secret world of in-house overclocking.
Today, I’m spending the afternoon over at Gigabyte HQ testing one of their upcoming (read: secret nda) motherboards. Of course, I can’t tell you exactly what it is, but let’s just say I’m looking forward to my new media center PC.
Of course I also said Hi to in-house overclocker Hicookie or Kimchi22 as he is apparently known by nowadays. He’s recently been working on getting 4-Way SLI to run on the Z77X-UP7 with his (golden) Core i7 3770K. Looking forward to see what he can come up with!
Since I’ll be passing by the Gigabyte office quite often in the next couple of weeks and months, they’ve been so kind to free up a part of Hicookies office space for me. Even though it’s definitely not true, I have already claimed it as “my cubicle”. Don’t tell Hicookie, though … I don’t want him to kick me out. In any case, I’m making sure that he knows the stuff I leave behind is in fact MY stuff. Not cookie’s, no, it’s all mine.
I might have to share my gear eventually. Sharing is essential around here; especially if I can trade in my motherboard and memory for a little bit of that liquid nitrogen juice. LN2 is always present around Hicookie – wherever he goes, wherever he is.
Anyway, moving on. Wandering around the cubicals I also came across Neo from The Overclocker. He was doing some overclocking/testing as well, but needed some help with the settings. So, friendly as I am, I helped him out by giving tips and advice.
Anyway, time to ask Hicookie for some LN2 and play a bit more with my new and upcoming media center PC. Or something else of course …
